design...

The grand design of the universe envelopes us and we are sustained in this Universe as tiny creatures with amazing powers of observation. It is through the process of observation that man gets his sense of design. All manmade designs that we see around us in the form art and architecture of different kind finds nature as its source of inspiration. The unity of the well knit universe around us educates us about the importance of form and functionality of design.

Line, color, shape and texture are some the elements of design. When we experiment with these elements using the principles of design we are said to be in the process of designing. Principles of design include scale, rotation, repetition, distortion etc. The way we use the principles and elements of design depends on what it is that we are designing. From architecture, automotive and industrial design to communication design and fine arts every type of designing has a different purpose. The designer must have the final objective in his mind when starting his work so that he has a targeted approach in his work.

Communication design is something that has gained a lot of importance in our times. This is largely due to the improvements in means of mass communication which has given manufacturers of goods and service providers the ability to reach out to the public in different ways. The aim of such communication design is not just to inform the public of the availability of a certain product or service rather it is to attract the public to choose that particular product or service above the others of the like. This requires coming up with a theme that is relevant to the target audience. This part of designing is also known as the conceptual development. The next step is that of execution in which the concept has to be translated into practical terms. This is the work of creative individuals who have the ability to observe and then translate that observation in an effective and innovative manner.
